Kerlone (betaxolol hydrochloride) is a β 1-selective (cardioselective) adrenergic receptor blocking agent available as 10-mg and 20-mg tablets for oral administration.Kerlone (betaxolol hydrochloride) is chemically described as 2-propanol, 1-[4-[2-(cyclopropylmethoxy) ethyl] phenoxy]-3-[(1-methylethyl) amino]-, hydrochloride, (±). Usual Adult Dose for Glaucoma (Open Angle) 0.25% suspension: One drop in the affected eye (s) twice a day. 0.5% solution: One to two drops in the affected eye (s) twice a day. Comments: -In some patients, the intraocular pressure lowering responses may require a few weeks to stabilize. - If the intraocular pressure is not adequately controlled on Betaxolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers. These work by slowing the heart rate to increase blood flow and lower blood pressure. This medication comes in an oral (by mouth) tablet form and is usually taken once a day, with or without food.
